The Beatles at The Cavern Club

Outside of The Cavern Club, 1963

Before they were world famous, The Beatles became the top group in Liverpool by playing in many clubs and dance halls around the city, most notably The Cavern Club. From February 1961 until August 1963, the band played at The Cavern almost 300 times. Most of their shows were lunchtime concerts, where The Beatles would play for an hour to the young people who spent their lunch breaks at the club.

Below is the only known video of The Beatles playing at the Cavern Club in Liverpool. It was recorded on August 22, 1962, just days after Ringo Starr officially replaced Pete Best at the band's drummer.
